In light of all of what appears to be the clown world we live in and the related things that happened this week (I’m not going in to all that stuff here), it was good for me to take a stroll through some Scriptures to keep the goodness and sovereignty of God in front of me- and to remind myself this is Jesus Christ’s world- it always has been and always will be.
“Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.”
Psalm 55:22 ESV
I know that in any and all trials I can freely turn to God- throw out all of my burdens on Christ and leave them there with Him- knowing that He will- not might or maybe- but He will sustain me.
“And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”
Colossians 1:17 ESV
Jesus is the Word who was in the beginning and nothing was made without Him, He is sovereign and almighty before all of creation. All things are laid bare before Him, and He is the only reason this universe has not ripped apart at the seams. He’s holdin’ it down.
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
Romans 8:28 ESV
God is sovereign over all things- every little thing and every big thing- it all serves His plan and purpose.
“The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever he will.”
Proverbs 21:1 ESV
God is sovereign over the political leaders in this world, He can turn their hearts toward good for reconciliation if He wanted to. Let us come together in prayer and ask Him to turn the hearts of our world leaders away from evil and unto the Lord our God.
“He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,”
Hebrews 1:3 ESV
The Lord Jesus is gloriously magnificent. “His rule and reign we’ll ever sing, all glory be to Christ!” Yes! Jesus Christ is seated on the throne in heaven with all authority on heaven and earth fully given to Him- And I take heart in that.
To wrap things up, let’s go out- fully trusting in the Word from the prophet Isaiah.
“remember the former things of old; for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times things not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose,’ calling a bird of prey from the east, the man of my counsel from a far country. I have spoken, and I will bring it to pass; I have purposed, and I will do it.”
Isaiah 46:9-11 ESV
