Our Belief & Practice

In covenant with one another, we believe the Word of God is the only authority for faith and practice. We affirm the 1689 Baptist Confession as the most “excellent, though not inspired, expression of the teaching of the Holy Scriptures by which all confessions are to be measured. We hold to the humbling truths of God's sovereign grace in the salvation of lost sinners. Salvation is [in] Christ alone and [through] faith alone” (Spurgeon). Principally, Philippians 2:1–11 is our governing verse.

The Gospel of Our Salvation

The good news of our salvation is that God has by his grace alone chosen and blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing including effectually calling, justifying, adopting, and sanctifying us so as to enjoy communion with God and one another. All that we enjoy from God is owing to being in Christ by grace.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.” (Ephesians 1:3–10 ESV)

Our Purpose & Covenant

Building upon the Word of God as the only authority for faith and practice, we testify that God’s Sovereignty and Grace has placed us in this body for the purpose of Christian communion, discipleship, and the spread of His Glorious Kingdom. Therefore, as covenant members we promise to: LOVE the Lord Jesus Christ supremely, and to love one another, and to Endure suffering together with HOPE, and to ensure TRUTHful teaching takes place in our church, making it a healthy place for God’s children, and to Pursue HOLINESS in our hearts, minds, and actions both inside and outside the church, and to remain Alive in our WITNESS in the world by being empowered by our WATCHFULNESS in prayer to God, and IN ALL these THINGS, and in all of life, and in all we attempt to do in this church for God’s Glory, may we Never let go of a GOD-CENTERED GOSPEL, and TRUST the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.

Our Missionary Vision

We can be confident in Christ Jesus that unbelieving people whom the Father has chosen, whom the Son has redeemed, and whom the Spirit regenerates, will come to know, enjoy, display, and declare the glory of the risen Christ and His Cross through the prayerful witness of our church in covenant with each other, and will do so throughout the world through other like-minded bodies of believers, increasingly to the very end of time (Habakkuk 2:14; Mathew. 28:18–20; Malachi 1:11; 1 Corinthians 15:58).

Our Meetings

We gather on the Lord’s Day (Sunday) at 10am & 6pm. Our morning gathering includes prayer, responsive Scripture reading, singing of hymns, doctrinal preaching, and Communion. Our evening gathering includes singing of hymns, prayer, and Bible study.

Our Minister

Brian J. Mann was called into the gospel ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ in 1999, began pastoring in 2000, obtained degrees from Southeastern (Biblical Studies) and Southwestern Baptist Seminaries (Theological Studies), and began ministering as the Pastor of Catherine Lake in January 2009. Pastor Mann’s ordination charge was to be a faithful shepherd who feeds the sheep, finds them, flees from sin, and focuses on the Savior. Building upon this charge, he aims to promote a humility in humanity and a high view of God through hope in Jesus Christ; preach the doctrines of grace (otherwise known as Calvinism); and propagate biblically-exegeted, gospel-exalting, church-edifying theology with confidence in Christ.
