Campus Outreach
I met with a guy named Kyle from Campus Outreach this past week. I was encouraged by his ministry in Greensboro on the campus of UNCG. We met under the banner of Gospel Coalition and discussed some things concerning that. Even so, I thought I would link here to this ministry for information purposes. It is a worthy ministry to support from what I have seen and understood already. Helping you stay informed, Brian!
Read MoreJust Do Something
Just Do Something by Kevin DeYoung is another book I just read. I finished it in one day. It is an easy read, but perhaps one of the most impacting books that can be given to young Christians of my generation (30-35 year olds). Even so, it is helpful for anyone who wants to know a biblical view of discovering God’s will for your life.
To everyone this book teaches how we have it wrong if we are thinking that God is going to tell us what to do for every decision we face. DeYoung rightly uses Scripture to teach that God does guide us morally by His Word but gives us a brain to make godly decisions and we should take responsibility for making those decisions or even refusing to make them.
DeYoung defines God’s will of decree, God’s will of desire, and God’s will of direction early on to lay a solid biblical framework to look at personal decisions from that time forth.
This book is specifically helpful to my generation, as I have already stated. Why? Because many my age are waiting longer to get married, have kids, and become adults themselves. This book says to my generation–Grow up! And rightly so. And more than that, it encourages young men to grow up, take responsibility to be adults, get married, and have a family. I highly recommend the book because it is biblical and will help many people who read it and heed it to get off their keisters and live valiantly for Christ.
Furthermore, this book is great for personal discipling relationships as well as small groups. It is easy to read and concise. Grace and Peace.

Bookends of the Christian Life by Jerry Bridges and Bob Bevington
Dealing with persistent guilt and/or trying to live up to a standard but you never feel you can measure up? This book addresses those issues. I remember in the second year of my first pastorate someone recommended some resources to me that helped me on a journey of understanding God’s grace. This book does that. It uses the metaphor of bookends to describe how everything in the middle of your life, all your books per se, are held up by two major things: The righteousness of God and the power of the Holy Spirit. These two things properly explained help you fight against self-righteousness, persistent guilt, and self-reliance. The information explained in this book can aid an individual in developing a solid Christian-worldview.
And it is concise, easy to read, and a great book for personal discipling relationships as well as small groups. I highly recommend it as it has refreshed my soul. I am reminded again of what matters most in life and encoruaged again to cling to the Cross and live by the power of the Holy Spirit.
So, if you are looking for a great concise encouraging book to read, this is one. Grace and Peace.

The Church is largely wasting her time…in imagining that, if you give people the Christian ethic and urge them to practice it, the problems of the world will be solved. It cannot be done; regeneration is essential.
